Mission Week
During the Autumn term of 2011 St. Gregory’s celebrated its third school mission week, the previous two being in 1994 and 1999. Our most recent mission was led by the youth ministry team from the Sion Community along with Steve Murray (a gifted mime artist and evangelist) and Fiona Mansford who leads a ministry called ‘Pure in Heart’. Through prayer, drama, song, personal testimony, mime and many other activities the mission team shared the Gospel with students and staff and the week finished with an evening event and a celebration of the Eucharist for all year groups.
Here are a few reflections from across the week.
“Mission week touched me in a way beyond words. The week was a breath of fresh air into my faith and the Cross Purposes team helped me to realise what was missing from my life – God! Even though it was just one (often hilarious) week, it is just the beginning for me. The Holy Spirit has filled me with happiness and I’m not letting go.” Matthew
“During mission week we experienced the living presence of God in a variety of ways. We were offered workshops that included talks on relationships and testimonies from the team and Steve Murray, which reduced many of us to tears. We all got to see God in a whole new perspective....we all enjoyed the dramas, music and mime, whilst worshipping God at the same time....the Sion team were a marvellous boost to our spiritual lives at St. Greg’s.” Vernon
“Mission week was amazing! God has touched me so much and the Cross Purposes team have touched my heart.” Eleanor
“Mission week has helped me gain an understanding that God works in mysterious ways and he loves each and every one of us.” Shanice
“Mission week was a great experience. The words from the team went straight into my heart and helped me start to think about myself and other people. I realised how thankful I am to God for my life and for the things he has done for me.”Aleksandra
